A very simple band this time on the Victoria Sampler "Four Elements: Fire". Good thing, too, because 7 is going to be a dozy!
Band 6 on this little sampler is a simple band of Scotch Stitch that alternates direction to make a checkerboard. Scotch Stitch is one of my favorite filling stitches for canvas work. It makes nice little square pillows of texture. It translates well here using #12 perle cotton.
While this stitch works well in white work that is counted thread based, it does not work as well on surface embroidery white work. It really needs a regular grid in the ground fabric to work effectively.
Just started over on the left is a solid row of beads. I am using double pass of Half Cross to secure them and in effect, this will be close to a hem stitch. The next band is a panel of drawn thread work - so cutting again! And this time without the satin stitch Kloster Blocks to secure everything !!!!
