FLASHBACK NEEDLEWORK: Plimoth Plantation Sweete Bag and Smalls

Pattern:  "Plimoth Plantation Sweete Bag" and "Plimoth Plantation Sweete Bag Accessories"

Designer:  The Examplary / Joann Harvey

35 cream count linen

DMC threads as charted

Stitches: Cross (two over two), Double Running, Pattern Darning

Stitching finished 2003 (various months)

The floral design of this sweet bag is inspired by a sampler at Plimoth Plantation. Worked in 1664 by a girl with the initials "E C", the sampler is typical of those made by young women in both England and New England. (per Traditional Stitches website)

SAL on the Legacy Embroiderer's Guild message board.   I had a couple scraps of linen left over and modified the scissors sheath design for the biscornu.
