Well, I have a very busy day today. I am reading one of the three Bible readings at church, then I will be rushing to get to my grand daughter's gymnastics meet to watch her compete for the first time. Then there's the Super Bowl in the evening (starts at around 5 Central).
But there will be mindless knitting on the sock blanket (except at church LOL). And I have gotten some other crafting done this week. I'm still plugging along on the Christmas Carpenter's Wheel - but I left it at the office Friday. oops.
The steeks on my colorwork vest are coming along and I got buttons for it. Right now, I am securing the steeks - you hand sew a line of tight backstitches along each side of the cutting line before you take the scissors to the knitting (shudder). Those stitches are done with quilting thread and basically snuggle down into the knit stitches and disappear on the front. (Inside on the right, outside on the left. Cutting line is the solid row of white knit stitches between the checkerboards - right down the center of that stitch.)
I have one more arm and the front to do this on.
And I got the peacock and the back haunch of a heraldic lion done on Dutch Beauty before I hit the 10 hour mark. If you want to see the entire thing laid out, check out the Rotation Changeover post. I'm happy to get this one put away this time around. That vine was a SLOG. But I'll be glad to see it come back up in a few months. It generally takes me right around a month each for the three main slots (and a bit less for the finish and frame slot, usually), so about every three to four months, this one pops up.
Linking up with the Slow Sunday Crew (even though my personal Sunday will be more of a Not So Slow Sunday) - link to this week's line up.

Sounds like your very busy! Your colorworks vest looks amazing, such talent
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've done steeks and cut a deliberate hole in my knitting. I'm taking it one step at a time.
DeleteI hope you are enjoying your busy day. I love your knitting and your cross-stitching. That peacock is pretty. I really don't think I will ever knit something that needs steeks. I would be way too nervous.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get to watch my progress on the cutting part soon. Hopefully I can report on that next week! Though I'm a bit nervous, I think I'm more worried about the front button band and the overall fitting working out.
DeleteWow, that's a lot of stitches! I can knit a potholder and a scarf. Your knitting takes the craft to a very advanced level. GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI've been knitting since I was kindergarten age. That's a seriously long time LOL. And ever since I came across Elizabeth Zimmermann's books, I've been a 'fearless knitter'. I'll tackle just about anything.
Deletelove all your stitching
ReplyDeleteThanks. Your quilts inspire me, too.
DeleteLove your peacock! Sounds like you have a busy day!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he cute? I loved working on him. He has a buddy on the other edge to look forward to.
DeleteOh wow, your knitting is exquisite. I have always wanted to knit or hand stitch whilst listening to the sermon.....I don't see why we can't. Though complicated Fair Isle knitting might be a stretch, I am sure a few hand stitching of hexies would be okay....wouldn't it. =)
ReplyDeleteI have often thought that myself - hexis or a plain sock during the boring parts (of the sock, not the homily LOL). I HAVE stitched or knit during Sunday School - Sr Emily always brought her knitting, so I didn't feel awkward.
DeleteOh! Your peacock is really cute! Nicely stitched!! :)
