There was a TON of EPP this week. I did the entire outer ring of the alternate block #1 to test the black a bit further.
This is how I am storing the completed blocks - in sheet protectors in a binder. There is a project box, but it's full of fabric! And several packets of papers - from Paper Pieces (link to their website).
Oh yes, the black background on the table topper will work just FINE! These are just laid out, not put together yet. I just wanted to be sure that the black background worked with both the light and dark outer edged main blocks.
The basting is very distracting on the black, isn't it?
This Jinny Beyer border print (the larger stripe) will be the border. Mitered at the corners; hopefully I can get all four corners to hit in the same place.
Or maybe this one (same stripe, different background ). I'm not sure about blue undertone in the background of the lighter stripe, since none of the other prints in the pallet have any blue undertones. I hope that by using the smaller stripe in a couple of the block centers, including the alternate block above, that it will look OK. I really like the lighter stripe. ETA: I did notice that two of my fabrics do have steel grey/blue grey in the prints, so I'm feeling better about the lighter stripe.
I can't really make a decision until I see everything laid out. Lots more piecing to do, though. And I have to decide how to fill in the edges.
I also put in about three inches on the sock yarn blanket. More news on that when I hit the last corner of round 8.
And there was some confusion as to which weekend was the #BBDweekendSAL - whether it was the weekend that had the first of August in it, or the first FULL weekend in August. So I happily stitched on "Moon Garden" both weekends LOL. Still working on the border. I do have the left side all the way down to the corner. And I still can't get that fabric color to show up right. It has a lot more olive green in it than the charcoal grey that is showing up.
I really like the blue stripe for the border, too. What a fabulous idea to store your finished blocks in plastic sleeves. You certainly have done a ton of EPP.....they are all looking fabulous.
ReplyDeleteYour black background looks great on your EPP project. It shows off the other fabrics nicely. The counted cross stitch is nice too.
ReplyDeleteYour EPP project is an amazing design! I'll enjoy seeing it come together.
ReplyDeleteLove your EPP project!
ReplyDeleteThat EPP is moving along quickly. Looking great.
ReplyDeleteI love that EEP project. The black background looks great. Both of those borders look like they have a blue tinge in the photos, but that may just be the lighting. Looking forward to seeing which you use.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the lighting. I took those under my ring light, which is an LED bulb. It does tend to shade everything 'cooler'. We will see when I get everything together and can lay both border choices out in the room where it will get used.
DeleteYour EPP looks amazing.Looking forward to seeing which fabric you choose for the border. Have a wonderful week and happy quilting.
