Look what happened yesterday! Here's where I was at when it was supposed to be my bedtime.
Yes, that is the FINAL corner of the FINAL round of the sock yarn blanket! Of course, I couldn't leave it like that.....

Took a picture first thing this morning. I'm so excited that it is FINISHED.
I think knitting will go on a slight hiatus until the weather cools off in a few weeks. Hot, sweaty hands plus wool yarn is not all that comfortable.
So of course I had to work on the other project that uses wool this week
I made good progress on the Unicorn Pillow since I finished BBD "Their Song" on Monday. Got the rest of the white background done, the light leaf green edge of the cameo frame done and almost half of the tweedy dark green frame. This is between six and seven hours.
No forward movement on quilting this week. I need to pull out the border fabrics and figure out the width of the inner border on PotC. I think I'll do that today after I check out the SSS crew (current link party).
Oh my goodness that sock yarn blanket is amazing! What a treasure you created! Congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteYour sock yarn blanket is gorgeous! Love the blue border. It is the perfect choice for all those beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish on the blanket! That border was worth all the extra effort for sure!

All that navy blue was a bit of a slog, it's true, but I'm glad I took the time to do the full two rounds plus edging.
DeleteThat sock yarn blanket is gorgeous. I love how the dark blue frames all of those gorgeous colors. Congratulations on the finish! Your unicorn is looking great!
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting to see your sock yarn blanket finished, and it is gorgeous! Well done - are you keeping this for yourself?
ReplyDeleteYes, this one is for me! It's hard to believe that it's done and all from scraps from other projects.
DeleteThat sock yarn blanket is STUNNING! I have never seen anything like it! I thought it was a quilt at first and wanted to see it up close, and then you amazed me. I can't even imagine how long it took or how you happened to have so many different sock yarns. Did you plan it as in following a pattern or was this your own creation?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comment! I like knitting socks and several of my knitting friends donated their leftovers to the cause. I also bought several batches of 25-30 yard "Mini Skeins" to get a wide variety of sock yarns. The pattern is the "10 stitch Blanket" and is linked on my Rav page. I just changed it to 20 stitches across since I was using fingering weight instead of worsted weight/DK yarn. It was an 'off and on' project for several years, but I really worked on it steadily once I hit the navy border. The only thing I tried to do was not put the same yarn on top of itself and to scatter the bright pinks and yellows around the entire piece to keep the eye moving.
