Slow Sunday Stitching - March 5, 2023

With finishing the frogging of the Morning Glory Runner last Friday, I came to the end of my first time through my rotation projects this year.   I worked on two other needlework projects this week: first up is Slot #1 of Rotation #2 (Historic Inspired) which is "My Day Complete" by Kathy Barrick.

If you go by the schedule for this October to October SAL, I'm starting on the April section, which consists of this cartouche with the date of the original artwork, the designer's initials and the long swooping tail of the bird.   I'm really liking working on the 40 count linen, which is Vintage Country Mocha on the Newcastle base.

The other project is of course, the Sugar Skull.   I'm trying to put a minimum of 250 stitches in every Friday; this week I got in way more than that - a bit over 600 stitches!  I started the fill in on the teeth and sampled the 'bone' color and got one side of mouth area filled in.  There's not a lot of contrast between the bone color and the background fabric (28 count Ice Blue Lugana), but I think it will be enough with the strong outline.   The pattern called for Blanc for both the teeth and the bone, but I wanted just a tiny bit of contrast, and DMC 3866 (Ultra Very Light Mocha Brown) will look OK, I think.

I'm also still knitting away at sleeve #2 of the Brown Yoke Sweater.  I haven't had much good knitting time this week, but I am getting close to the elbow and the switch to a longer needle and magic loop for the forearm and cuff.

Linking up with the SSS crew (current links here).

  2. I like the bone color to contrast with the teeth. You are making great progress.
