Needlework WiP: "VS 4 Elements: Fire" - Band 13

Another band of drawn thread work on my Victoria Sampler project.

This is another version of a herringbone hemstitch.  This one would be able to be modified easily to be appropriate for securing a fringed edge.   It would only take going around each 'bundle' of vertical threads one more time.
Ready for the fancy part

As in the first band of drawn thread work in this sampler, almost all the time on this section was spent prepping the area where the threads are withdrawn and re-woven.   I had a struggle with one of the threads that had a slub of linen fiber in it.  You can sort of see that thread above at the top of the open section on the left.

Linen by it's very nature is thick and thin, even in a well woven fabric.  That's one of the things that makes linen so interesting as a natural material, but you can pick apart a slub, find and remove the excess fiber and 'respin' it with your fingers.  Linen is stronger damp than dry, so a bit of water on your fingers can smooth everything back together.  Saliva is actually traditional, but sort of 'ick'.

And all done and pretty with the slub fixed
