Slow Sunday Stitching - January 5, 2020

Well, the crafting year is off to a good start.  I have put in about an hour on Dutch Beauty, working on the spine of the vine that forms the outer border.  I plan to work it all the way around to define the bottom row.   I will work the buds and the quatrefoil leaves as I work the associated pages.
Not very impressive yet...…

And I pulled out the Christmas Carpenter's Square/Wheel block that I started back in October at the Library Fiber Fair to work on as a travel project.  It's all hand pieced and I got the diamonds for the outer star all cut on Saturday.

Not much work on this one lately, and I don't want it to linger around.

I also put in a couple of hours on the sock yarn blanket while watching football last Sunday.  The Kansas City Chiefs are the front runner in the AFC West; the division playoff is next Sunday, so there will be mindless knitting next week, too LOL.

I spent several hours yesterday getting my projects organized and figuring out next steps and putting away things that had been pulled out over the holidays for one reason or another (last minute gift ? oops, it's not as far along as I remembered.....)  Lots of plans; let's see how well I carry them out LOL.  Linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching - there's planning going on over there, as well (and recovery from the winter flus and blahs.)

  1. I think it really helps to get organized at the beginning of the year if we need to - it helps to show us where we are and what we really want to work on doesn't it

    1. I'm pretty good about keeping honest paper lists, and the blog really helps me see my progress, but there's something about pulling everything out, opening all the bags and boxes and really SEEING everything that is both exciting and sobering....

  2. Great projects. I need to reassess what I still have too. I made a list last year, but I need to update it.

  3. Good job on your progress! My Cowboys had a horrible finish to the year and I told my family I am going to cheer for KC. Go Chiefs!

    1. Yippee. I just hope they don't bobble the playoff. They have a terrible habit of that! LOL. I have to support the local team, but I have loved the Cowboys - they were my husband's team from when he lived in Texas as a child when his dad was stationed there.

  4. It's amazing how the holidays derail everything, and then require us to reorganize in January.
I hope you get some time today to work on these two lovely projects!

  5. Your Dutch Beauty looks very complicated, I like having a hand stitching project on the go.

    1. This is true, and this project is proof of that - each motif is pretty small and simple, but as they stack up, it gets more impressive LOL.

  7. I actually made a list this year of all my WIPs, UFOs, and projects that have yet to be started. It is a looong list. I like your cross-stitch project. It looks beautiful. I love the fabrics of the Christmas Carpenters Square. I am looking forward to seeing some of that blanket soon.

    1. The Christmas quilt will be a while - it's my lowest priority project because it's basically an 'orphan block' quilt. Whenever I want to do a test block, I do it in Christmas fabric. Eventually there will be enough blocks to make a quilt.
