With just one little motif left to do this morning (hello, tiny squirrel!), Dutch Beauty's few remaining minutes for this round went quickly. This finishes page U/21 and meets my yearly goal for this piece.
When I lay it out for a full picture, I am once again struck by just how BIG this thing is. 40 plus more hours in on it this year and only started on that bottom row. (I just noticed my table cloth ghosting through the unstitched linen. I'll take care to put a plain white cloth under it when photographing from now on!)
As I mentioned in the SSS post earlier today, the Sharon Cohen "Sampler Sweetbag" is up next on the list. I really want to get the finishing done on this before the end of the year.
The assembly seams of the outside of the bag are now done up to the turn line.
Yet to do.
- count, mark, and cut the hem turn (right at an inch deep plus seam allowance)
- attach cording around the edge of the bag
- finish the inside edge of the hem on both sides (since the cording will tuck into the seam at the turn point, it has to be done in this order)
- turn the hem and baste into place (edge of the hem won't need to be turned under since it will be covered by the lining)
- make the lining, hem and attach it to the bottom of the linen hem about where the embroidery starts (this could be done after the eyelets are finished)
- mark and make the eyelets
- attach tassels to the bottom of the bag
- run cording and finish the ends as more tassels
I just love that large stitchery it is so big and so much work in it
