A while back, one of my favorite floss tube channels, @handworkmaniac, did a video tour of her 'under the bed box' which I re-watched during the last #24HoursOfCrossSitch. It inspired me to pull everything out of the cedar chest last week. That's how I found the little redwork piece that I turned into the pincushion. I also added everything that was sitting on my work table in a 'to be finished' box and associated pile. And one stumpwork piece that I had in a little acid free box safely stowed on top of my jewelry box.
There were 48 items! plus I know there's at least one more project which is just needing the embellishments that I did not find. I have made a list! There are 8 things that I know will have to be professionally framed (counting the four 'Elements' band samplers as one because they will go in together).
Thirteen (I think) small band samplers in addition that might be professionally framed if/as the budget permits. My old LNS owner was a certified Just Nan instructor back in the 90s when the JN style was Victorian and frilly instead of 'prim'. I took every class I could; I still love the style and all the specialty stitches. There's are a couple of other band samplers that were class or stitch along projects as well - a Charland, a Victoria Sampler, and a Drawn Thread (with many more projects of the same style in the stash!!!)
There are a half dozen pieces in there that need 'rescue' work - over-dye or retro clean to compensate for staining. One Quaker that needs to have some initials added (my mother in law and mother have passed away since it was stitched). And the rest are either non-frame finishing or ones that I might try to frame myself.
It's embarrassing. But just like working down the WiPs, all it will really take is setting up a time to work on them. At least over the last couple of years, I haven't added much to the pile since I've been FFO or framing nearly everything I finish stitching either right away or within a few weeks/months.
So, the redwork pincushion takes the count down to 47 and if I can get the Autumn Silhouette bag done, it will be 46. I also want to try a drum finish and there's one that will work for that.
Everything (except for the MIA Linda Driskell whitework sampler) is back into MY 'under the bed box', which is actually stored under the bed. I de-cluttered a bunch of old clothes that were stored in there and will take them to the local thrift store Friday. All the needlework is protected from dust and I know where everything is and what is in there. And now I can use my cedar chest for blankets! LOL
