Slow Sunday Stitching - October 16, 2022

Things are getting busy around here.  The calendar is filling up with events supporting the grandkids.  Alexis has a music program in two weeks and Carl has a play the same week.  I will try to get to both, but it's going to be a bit crazy.   They both also have sports competition season going;  I'm sure Angie and JC feel like they are meeting themselves coming and going!

I will be doing a BUNCH of LOSY hats as good portable projects while waiting for things to start, etc.   This one is well underway from the batch of random 'Halloween' colored yarns that I showed last week.

The other project this week has been the embroidery on Bob's Stocking.  Got the first deer finished.

And the second one underway:

I still need to chart the space on the instep of the stocking, doing some math to see which motifs will fit best.  Maybe I will tackle that after I check out the SSS crew (link to this week's roundup).

  1. Thé deer really finish off the stocking nicely! Great to have a portable project to bring along and do while you are waiting Gail at the Cozy Quilter

  2. Knitting is an amazing art to me, as I haven't a clue how to do it. This is absolutely beautiful!

  3. Knitting a hat on a circular needle like that looks like the way to go! I'd like to learn how to do that. The reindeer turned out beautifully! Have a great week!

  4. Your knitting is looking great. I like how the deer are coming along. I remember all those many school events. My children were in sports, band and other things. It was quite hectic.

  5. I've never used circular needles but I can see how it would work well with a hat. Are you embroidering on a commercially or hand knitted stocking for Christmas?

    1. I use circular needles for a lot of my knitting. I will even knit back and forth on circs rather than use straight needles.

The stocking is the one I knit last year for my brother in law - the poor guy got it with the knitting done, but only the stranded part of the colorwork. I didn't have time for either intarsia or Swiss darning, so he had a very plain stocking last year LOL. A few posts back "Bob's Stocking Redux" has a picture.
