I just finished a wonderful audio book: "A Beautiful Blue Death" by Charles Finch. I don't remember who recommended this series. It was one of my quilting blogs - probably either Jo's Country Junction or Karen at Quilts ... etc. They both recommend books occasionally. Whoever it was, thanks!
I really enjoyed this first book in the series. The case file was interesting enough to keep my attention, and the setting in Victorian London with glimpses of high and low society fascinated me when the plot was in a lull.
It's a murder mystery - a double murder with two different methods - stabbing and poison - and widely different victims - a member of Parliament and a housemaid. The woman had three lovers, the man was rumored to be on the verge of bankruptcy. And what about the gold being stored in the house? So many suspects, so many motives.
Special mention of the narrator. He did voices - very GOOD voices, which is harder than you think. Class and gender voices were spot on. And it's difficult to do that consistently though a 9 hour long audiobook. There's nothing worse than some narrator that tries to do the voices and fails. But Mr. Langton was impressive.
I was able to download the book through Hoopla via my local library. I did have to download the app and add my library card information, but it was relatively painless.
