Rotation Changeover - 2022 Rotation #1, Slot 4 (full coverage) complete

I've been working on JC's "USMC Seal" over the last couple of weeks (in and around all the finishing that I reported last week for the SSS link up).

My sister is doing the charting of the lettering around the outside of the seal and had some technical issues on the last third of the design.  Those are resolved and she got me the next section of the chart.

The over one is slow going, but that's OK, I love the way it looks.  I am averaging between 100 to 130 stitches an hour - one over one on 28 count.  I'm trying to stitch more or less perpendicular to the curved border.  So my rows have moved from horizontal to diagonal to vertical over this section.

I worked the top half in a clockwise direction and doing the bottom half counter-clockwise.  Working in 'reading order' on any lettering is much easier, I have found.  On my samplers I tend to work from the upper left in any section of lettering for the same reason.

By the way, this is a page finish on page 9.  There are 14 pages in the chart now that Kimi is done with it.

And for reference, this is where I started this rotation:

Next up is the needlepoint/crewel piece.

  1. There sure are a lot of stitches in this project! Do you track how many hours you have spent on it?

    1. I track 15 min increments for my rotation, but don't really keep track of grand total. Especially with this one, where it hibernated off and on. I recently started counting the stitches for a challenge on Full Coverage Fanatics, but I don't enjoy that.

I will say that since I started reporting for Slow Sunday Stitching on my progress most weeks, that I have become more consistent on all my hand work! And taking photos for those posts is very motivating.
