Snow and Ice - I am so sick of it. Seems like we are getting hammered the middle of every week lately. I'm not really mad; my boss is good about letting me work from home when the weather forecast is problematic. But I'm still ready for spring! We have had a few days in the upper 40s F (8 to 12 degrees C), so spring will be sneaking in soon.
Speaking of Spring, Lent starts with Ash Wednesday this week, so happy Carnevale, Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday, etc. I'm going to going to the kid's pancake feed. Yummmm.
I made some good progress on everything this week. I posted about my sweater design process earlier this week, and the first sleeve is well underway knitting from the underarm down - just past the 12th set of decrease stitches of 23 sets, so vaguely elbowish length. Each sleeve is roughly 15% of a finished sweater, still 7% is better than 0%!

And I finished the tiny, crazy detailed little people on the street scene side of the Plaza Sewing Bag. You would not believe the stitches and frogging in the approximately two square inches they take up! Hours, people - almost five hours! But they are done! And that also means that the first side of the bag is done! (Still needs the personalization on the carriage door and clock face in the tower, beads and metallic threads, but those will go in at the end.) The top borders remain as well; instructions are vague, but seem to say to do those after assembly. I'm not sure about that, any advice?

Look for a rotation changeover post with the first side all laid out later today. (ETA: Changeover post here.) I'm also going to get some waste fabric attached to the other side of the bag so it will fit in the Q Snaps when this comes up in the rotation again.
Barely 200 stitches on the Sugar Skull on Friday. I was antsy to get back to the last hour on the Plaza Bag and shorted the Sugar Skull project a bit. Still working on the outline of the curly bits on the forehead. Photo when the outline is done.
Linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching (current roundup).
People who don’t do handwork just have no idea how many hours go into our projects! Looking great! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteGreat projects, they are looking wonderful! I too am tired of the freezing weather. I went this morning up to a new French Bakery up the street that just opened last week, and had to scrape ice off my window before I could leave.
ReplyDeleteIt seems winter is not releasing its icy grip there. Gosh, it does sound as if your winter has been extremely harsh. I would perish if I lived in those frigid conditions. =) On a happier note your horse and carriage....and lady is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour knitting looks great. Those little people can sometimes be more trouble than all the rest of the stitching. I would love to see just a bit of your snow. We have had no more than one dusting that was gone by the afternoon. Enjoy your stitching.
