Jessie Marie pulls the numbers for WIPGO on the 25th of the prior month. So sometime between the 25th and the end of each month, I plan to share my starting points and strategy for my WIPGO "Finish or Frame" projects.
The calls for January are #9 and #22. From my board, those projects are:
#9 "Night at the Museum Band Sampler" from the 1994 Camp Needle Little Vacation retreat (hosted at the Kansas State Historical Society Museum in Topeka).
And #22 is the first of six slots on a cube pincushion/scissor block made from Just Nan Freebies
The plan is to do a simple board finish on the top one. I need to measure it and find or purchase appropriate boards, and see if I have something in the trim stash for the edges and purchase trim/embellishments as needed.
For the pin cube - the first slot plan includes purchasing all the materials for the structure and doing a finish on the bottom with quilting muslin and no padding for maximum stability. I also need to find a fabric (or maybe hexi piece something) for the pincushion on top. If I decide to piece it, I won't necessarily finish the piecing this month. I won't need that done until the final assembly step.
I think that the major issue with me not getting finishing done is getting all the materials assembled. Once I sit down to actually do the finishing, it usually goes pretty fast, or if there's a lot of hand sewing, at least pretty steadily! Hopefully WIPGO will give me the push I need.
